CFK Expands the Ride to Seven Counties; a Caribbean Cruise
Joins the 2008 Tony Cenzi Custom Bobber Motorcycle as a Grand Prize

TAMPA, FL, January 24, 2008 – It’s back and it’s better than ever! The Fourth Annual Credit Union Cruise For Kids will roar to life on Saturday, March 15.

Because credit unions in Citrus, Hernando, Manatee and Polk counties are joining CUs in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties this year, motorcycle riders will have a seven-county area to tour on their bikes and more stops to choose from.

Last year, Credit Union Cruise For Kids – the signature fundraising event of the Tampa Chapter of Credit Unions – generated $10,000 for All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg and $40,000 for nine additional agencies and nonprofit organizations that support, nurture and heal children.

As in prior years, the 2008 Cruise For Kids will take place rain or shine.

Riders may start at any participating credit union branch along the route, but they must stop at a minimum of two additional credit union branches to get their maps stamped.  All poker stops open for rider registration at 9:30 a.m.

Title sponsor Quaker Steak & Lube Restaurant in Clearwater will again host the rockin’ party that kicks off when the ride ends in the early afternoon. Riders and guests can expect local band Jester, door prizes, raffles, and more. Radical Randy from the Born to Ride magazine and television show is returning as emcee of the day’s events, including the drawing for the two grand prizes.

Riders must pull into the restaurant by 1:30 p.m. and turn in their map to receive a poker hand and raffle ticket. They may also purchase an unlimited number of raffle tickets and/or additional poker hands at $5 apiece.

Raffle tickets to win the Tony Cenzi custom Bobber and the Caribbean cruise will cost $5 each and are available at Quaker Steak & Lube, the branches of all participating credit unions, and most local “bike night” events. Cruise for Kids 2007 Post-Event Press Release

3rd Annual Credit Union Cruise for Kids Motorcycle Poker Run
Raises $50,000 For Local Children’s Charities

TAMPA, FL, April 10, 2007 – Hundreds of riders and guests gathered under a beautiful blue sky at Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant in Clearwater on March 18 for the Credit Union Cruise For Kids post-motorcycle ride festivities.

Chamber of Commerce weather aside; music, food, gift basket raffles, 50/50 raffles, and prizes for winning poker hands kept the momentum going, leading up to the redraw for last year’s Tony Cenzi Custom Bobber motorcycle, and the drawing for the Custom Pro Street motorcycle Mr. Cenzi built for the 2007 event.

Mr. W. David Favell of Tampa won the 2006 Custom Bobber. This year’s Cruise For Kids master of ceremonies, Radical Randy of Born to Ride TV and magazine, phoned Mr. Favell right after his name was pulled in the redraw, but no one answered. The reason there was no answer became clear after Bay Gulf Credit Union staff did some investigating: Mr. Favell, who is one of their members, is hearing impaired, as are his wife and son.

Contact was made with the Favell family the day after the event. When they dropped by Bay Gulf Credit Union to pick up their prize, they had no problem communicating their joy at winning the Custom Bobber.  “Mr. Favell is an avid motorcyclist and was grinning from ear to ear as he rode off on his new Tony Cenzi Bobber,” said CFK Chairperson Sharmon Goins. “They are one happy family!”

Afterwards, talking on the phone to Tony Cenzi, who was not able to attend the Cruise For Kids event, Goins was stunned to learn that the owner and founder of Cenzi Motorcycle Company in upstate New York not only knows sign language because a member of his family is hearing impaired, he has a number of hearing impaired motorcycle enthusiasts among his client base!

The winners of the 2007 Custom Pro Street motorcycle - Mr. Tom Clark and Ms. Pam Horrow of Tierra Verde, FL – were both at Quaker Steak & Lube at the time of the drawing. Neither could believe their luck at first, but then, as they made their way through the crowd toward Radical Randy, Ms. Horrow began jumping up and down.

With over 6,000 raffle tickets sold for the 2007 Custom Pro Street, it just added to the overall event excitement that the winners of the motorcycle were actually at the event! Cruise For Kids event organizers were elated over the event turn out and by the fact that two very passionate motorcycle enthusiasts won the Custom built Tony Cenzi motorcycles.

All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL, will receive $10,000 of the $50,000 raised through the 3rd Annual Credit Union Cruise For Kids event. In addition, the following local charities that support, protect and nurture children will receive the balance of the funds.

CFK organizers are grateful to the riders, guests, sponsors, volunteers and supporters who made the 3rd Annual Credit Union Cruise For Kids fundraiser an event to remember. We hope you’ll ride with us in 4th Annual Credit Union Cruise For Kids event on Saturday, March 15, 2008.
